New Year But Same Challenges
February 22, 2010

It’s a new year, and there are hints of hope regarding the economy.  But there’s no quick fix for the commercial real estate market.  In the latest edition of the CresaPartners Connection, we address the need for tenants to carefully assess market conditions and maximize their leverage while they still can.

We examine opportunities for corporate space users in the following pieces.  The lead story focuses on a slow-to-recover job market and what this means for tenants.  MarketTrends highlights the long-term toll and the lingering implications of the recession.  And GoingGreen outlines small steps companies can take to promote sustainability without making a big investment.  In TenantTips and StrategiesThatSave, we suggest how you can do more with less space and creative Project Management.  In ClientCorner, we illustrate how companies like HealthPort are taking advantage of market conditions in a flight to quality.

CresaPartners Recognized as a Sustainable Business Leader in Boston

February 9, 2010

CresaPartners recently received a Certificate of Sustainability from Boston’s Sustainable Business Leader Program (SBLP)—a program assisting small-to-medium size businesses in their pursuit to become more environmentally sustainable. CresaPartners, one of the original 27 participating Boston companies, also received “Best Practice” designations from SBLP for electrical and waste conservation and for increased communication with employees and clients about sustainability initiatives.

CresaPartners was recognized for completing SBLP’s action steps and making a significant contribution to reducing our carbon footprint, including: indoor green vegetation to improve air quality; purchasing less-toxic, green cleaning products; instituting an aggressive recycling program; and using Energy Star equipment to conserve energy.  CresaPartners has also upgraded office lighting that will save an estimated 5,132 Watts and 14,264 KWH this year.

“CresaPartners has met our program’s challenges and is embracing SBLP’s mission of becoming a more sustainable company,” said Laury Hammel, director, SBLP.  “CresaPartners has also fulfilled the management component of our program by beta testing it in Boston and then rolling it out nationally as a corporate initiative.”

“We think it’s important for CresaPartners to lead by example in the sustainability movement, in our headquarters in Boston and throughout the country,” said Bill Goade, CEO, CresaPartners LLC.  “We have made an investment to green up our operations, and it’s already paying off for the environment. Our participation in the SBLP has only deepened our commitment to sustainability as a company.”
