Swedish outdoor equipment manufacturer Husqvarna has settled on a home for its new North American headquarters.
The company is taking 56,871 square feet on two floors of the Three Harris Corners building in the Harris Corners Corporate Park.
Husqvarna also is building a new, 64,637-square-foot research and development facility on 9 acres in the park. That building will include 30,000 square feet of office space, and the remainder will be warehouse space.
In January, Husqvarna announced it would invest $2.75 million in its new North American headquarters, bringing 160 jobs to Charlotte. State and local economic-development officials were able to secure the consolidation with a $2.5 million grant.
At the time, the company said it would spend about $8.25 million on its new building, which it will lease from Beacon Partners, the developer of Harris Corners.
Before the announced consolidation, Husqvarna employed about 160 workers at a Statesville Road facility. The new offices will house finance, legal and risk-management personnel, sales representatives and the company’s North American industrial design center. The company expects the new building to be completed before year end.
The Three Harris Corners building is at the intersection of Interstate 77 and W.T. Harris Boulevard. It previously was home to Doosan Infracore International, which occupied the fifth floor and spent more than $1 million to build out the space. Husqvarna employees have already moved into that floor and are building out the fourth.
Mark Ayers and Jack Glasgow of CresaPartners represented Husqvarna. Charlie Swanson represented Beacon Partners, which also has its offices in the building.
